Markets

The market

Three readings, refreshed every session: how much of the market is holding its trend, what the options market is pricing for the week ahead, and which moves are genuinely rare by their own history.

Built after every close and published as one file — the same numbers members see on the Markets tab. Breadth is open to everyone; a free account adds the priced move, the full list of rare moves, and the dealer-positioning cards.

Moves that are unusual by their own history — context, not a signal.

Priced move this week

What the options market is pricing for the week ahead.

How to read these

What each reading measures — and what it doesn’t.

Breadth
The share of S&P 500 stocks trading above their 50- and 200-day moving averages, plus the count making new 52-week highs against new lows. It answers one question: is the move you’re looking at happening in most stocks, or in a handful of them? A strong index with weak breadth is a narrower market than the headline number suggests.
Priced move
What the options market implies the major index ETFs could move, either direction, through the coming Friday. It’s the market’s own estimate of the week’s range — useful as a yardstick, not a forecast. A setup targeting more than the whole index is priced to move in a week is asking for a lot.
Rarest right now
Streaks and stretches that are unusual measured against each ticker’s own history — not against a threshold someone picked. Each line says how many times the same condition occurred before, and how far back the data goes, because a “first time ever” with four years of history is a different claim than one with twenty. Rare is context. It is not a signal, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy anything.
On the calendar
The scheduled US economic releases and Fed decisions for the next two weeks, each with a line on what we do into the print. That line is our posture, the same one the Sunday delivery prints — never a forecast of the number.
